Edward Ponti is a woodworker, designer, and architect working in Detroit, MI.
With an academic background in architecture, including an MA(Hons) from the University of Edinburgh and an MPhil in Architecture and Urban Design from the University of Cambridge, as well as a Diploma in Fine Furniture from the Sam Beauford Woodworking Institute, Edward now lives and works in Detroit, Michigan.
Primarily working with wood, Edward designs and creates furniture, objects, and interiors. His design sensibilities are shaped by his architectural education, which included an award-winning thesis on symbolism and motifs in the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
His work is spare yet highly detailed and meticulously crafted, drawing from vernacular traditions while nodding to more contemporary aesthetics, and always infused with a touch of whimsy. Edward views his practice as a continual exploration of materials and form, balancing intricate craftsmanship with a thoughtful approach to design.
Presently he is working on a commissions basis - for all inquiries please email.
